La Mar Enfortuna is a project by Jennifer Charles and Oren Bloedow – founders of the legendary alternative rock group Elysian Fields. These two avant-garde artists have reinterpreted the traditional music of the Sephardic Jews whose roots go back to the Golden Age of tolerant Andalusia, where Jews, Muslims and Christians lived together in harmony. La Mar’s music is a modern and extremely original interpretation of this tradition. Their concert at the 18th Jewish Culture Festival in 2008 electrified the audience and went down in history as one of the most unique musical events of the festival.

Like every year, the nightlife of the Jewish Culture Festival will be centred around Alchemia club. Continuing the best festival traditions we would like to invite you to the Midnite Session – a completely unpredictable all-night jam sessions. Four nights on Alchemia stage will provide a unique presentation of the richness and diversity of the Jewish culture. This year The Klezmatics, La Mar Enfortuna, Kutiman, Alte Zachen, Shai Tsabari and Shlomo Bar will appear there among others!
