Ketel One Stage: IGOR BOXX

Igor Boxx is a solo project of Igor Pudło – co-creator of the Wrocław based, legendary duo Skalpel, one of the most important bands to come from Poland to international limelight.

His new album „Deliruim”, described by Igor himself as „psychological self-portrait”, is a missing link between Skalpel’s „Konfusion” and Igors’s debut album „Breslau” (his first solo work, released on Ninja Tune). The latest release, is a place where jazz inspirations meet psychedelic elements of krautrock and new wave, creating a mosaic of musical hallucinations.

While Skalpel was on a sabbatical, Igor was developing his solo project. During that time he released a few albums, which were a cross between innovatory style of Skalpel, their original concept and his own style.
Igor’s music is filled with distressing, psychedelic sounds consisting of energetic, very rhythmic tunes but also dark, ambient landscapes. His compositions refer to traditions of krautrock, jazz, hip-hop, vanguard and music from motion pictures, which are great synthesis of the most important themes of modern music.

Igor’s mix of ambitious electronica with avant-garde, mind-bending elements performed live alongside spectacular visuals is a great audio-visual experience.
„Breslau” released in 2010 on Ninja Tune is a musical fantasy about Red Army’s siege of the city of Wrocław in 1945. Album was highly praised by music critics and was nominated as an album of the year by various prestigious Polish media.

What followed were „Last Party in Breslau” (2011) and „Dream Logic” (2012) albums, which represent a new dance-electronic side of Igor’s music inspirations.

Igor Boxx performed at the most important music festivals in Poland (Open’er Festival, Off Festival, Sacrum Profanum, Selector Festival) and many other Polish and foreign festivals (NoBorder Music Festival, Firmament Festival, Art Moves Festival, Mellow Music Festival, Europavox). He was a curator of the electronic music scene of the European Kultural Congress in Wrocław. He also composed music for the Literary Port Festival and part took in various artistic collaborations (Evorevo, Nervy).
