Piotr Damasiewicz is a musician, composer, trumpeter and founder of Power Of The Horns – a ten-piece band he conducts himself. Łukasz Komła from nowamuzyka.pl describes him as a “visionary and animator of art, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, but most importantly – an excellent trumpeter”. In 2013 Damasiewicz received the prestigious Fryderyk award in a surprising category – “Jazz Debut of The Year”. He’s also received 2nd prize in the category of jazz themes at the Komeda Jazz Festival.
Some of his projects include Mnemotaksja, Hadrons and ImproGraphic. Together with Gerard Lebik he formed VeNN Circles. In his work Damasiewicz employs the language of jazz, twentieth-century classical music, European improvised and experimental music, sound art, electroacoustic improvisation.
Gerard Lebik is a prolific creator of improvised, intermedia and experimental music. This graduate of Wrocław’s Karol Lipiński University of Music creates installations and sound interventions. Lebik makes music by improvising, manipulating sounds using saxophones, acoustic wave generators, and various electroacoustic objects and software.
The Portuguese part of this team is Red Trio: Hernani Faustino (double bass), Rodrigo Pinherio (piano) and Gabriel Ferrandini (drums). This Lisbon band proposes an innovative approach to music, trying to explore and expand the definition of a classic jazz trio consisting of piano, double bass and drums. This time around, no instrument will be taking center stage. The musicians will be equal in their right to improvise and find their sound.
Red Trio records for well-established labels such as Clean Feed and No Business. Gabriel Ferrandini has previously collaborated with Damasiewicz in Power Of The Horns.
