Alchemia is very excited to host the ‚unprecedented phenomenon of the Ditch impro scene‘ (according to DraaiOmJeOren, Netherlands) march 6st.
Multi flutist Mark Alban Lotz (piccolo up to contrabass flutes and electronics) will perform one of his legendary Solo recitals and then meet three established modernists of the Polish scene : Rafal Mazur (bass), Marek Chołoniewski (electronics) and Leszek Wiśniowski (fl, fx). The meeting of this fearless improviser and composer with these three polish free spirits will produce music at the cutting edge. Each a match for each other and getting the best out of each other. Taking new directions a la moment. But without forgetting that yes: there is sexiness in contemporary music.
Mark Lotz is a unique voice in jazz and improvised music, exploring and redefining divergent traditions. Subject of many international publications, prize-winner, nominated for the Edison and Beyond Magazine prize. Released 17 CD’s recorded a.o. in Senegal, Turkey, Cuba. Mark worked with a huge cast of artists over the last two decades:
Makes part of the Chris Potter Tentet (Europe), worked/recorded with David Tronzo, Don Byron, Mathew Ostrowski, Claudio Puntin, Bob Ostertag or the wet dogs of Istanbul, ‘Islak Köpek‘. “The word of the ‚new worlds of sound’ usually picked up in the
context of contemporary music is quite worn out, but with Lotz it is
entitled.” (Neue Zeutschrift für Musik, Germany)
