Shai Tsabari & The Middle East Groove All-Stars (IL)
Shai Tsabari was born in Jaffa, in a Yemenite family with rich musical traditions. From his father, a cantor, he learnt the intricacies of religious singing, and from his grandmother – how to play Yemenite percussion instruments and sing traditional folk songs. As part of his musical education he came into contact with jazz, gospel and blues. He has collaborated with leading Israeli musicians, such as Berry Sakharof and Ehud Banai.
Shai’s latest project – The Middle-East Groove All-Stars – is a unique combination of musicians from different traditions and genres, from psychedelic rock, soul and dub to the Middle East groove with Shai’s extremely strong, distinctive voice, and his cosmic energy during the concerts.
