Tarras Band (USA)
The music of Tarras Band is the essence of the klezmer art, the continuation of the best traditions and absolutely unique, authentic sound. This New York band of brilliant Brooklyn musicians is proof that klezmer music is fine in the twenty-first century. Tarras Band are inspired mainly by the work of the clarinetist and composer, the great David Tarras, as well as by another guru and master of klezmer clarinet – Naftule Brandwein. The band includes a legend of the klezmer scene, Peter Sokolow, who played with David Tarras from the late 1950s to the 1980s.
