Joanna Slowinska – a vocalist and violinist well known for her folk/ethno music, inspired by Polish and Slavonic traditional music. Her solo albums: “Live in Alchemia” and “You can be” has been awarded “Folk Album of the Year” at Polish Radio prestigious festival “New Tradition” in Warsaw.

She’s been nominated and awarded in most important Polish festivals, inc. Polish Radio “New Tradition” [Grand Prix], Polish TVP “Opole” Festival, Poetic Song Festival Wroclaw. Joanna Slowinska has also recorded and peroformed in great oratorio projects, inc.: “Konieczny at Staniewski’s Theater”, “November Night” (comp. Zygmunt Konieczny), “Maria’s Seven Songs” (comp. B. Gliniak).

She also cooperates with Jaroslaw Bester – a composer, accordionist (NY “Tzadik” label, Cracow Klezmer Band, Bester Quartet), Zygmunt Konieczny – an outstanding song, theater and film music composer and Elliot Goldenthal (vocal solos from “Frida” movies in the frame of Krakow’s Film Festival). Joanna Slowinska co-creates an excellent polish folk group ‘Muzykanci’, and plays also the concerts with Krakow’s outstanding musicians, presenting folk and ethno tunes as well as tango, Jewish music and typical Krakow’s poetic songs. Her repertoire includes also Polish traditional carol songs (“From the heaven”) and passion songs (“Let the angels cry”) which she presents in her own unique style. Joanna has played concerts at world music festivals in many European countries and USA [Broadway Symphony Space, NY; Chicago Cultural Center].

Jaroslaw Bester – an accordion player and a composer, a graduate of the Krakow Academy of Music, a prizewinner of several international and Polish accordion contests.

He has formed The Cracow Klezmer Band – the only Polish music ensemble that permanently cooperates with John Zorn’s prestigious Tzadik label in New York City.

In his performing style, he combines his wide experience in classical music with many other genres and makes use of some clear improvised forms to create an unusually powerful mix that presents some first-time ever colors and techniques to be achieved on the accordion.  Thanks to these skills, he is considered today one of the very original musicians of the young generation worldwide.
