Soloartist and international tours and projects with a.o. Peter Brötzmann, Sonic Youth, Merzbow, Jim O´Rourke, Barry Guy, Otomo Yoshihide, Yoshimi, Ken Vandermark and in working groups The Thing, Sonore, FIRE!, Gush, Boots Brown, Swedish Azz and Nash Kontroll. Large ensemble work with Barry Guy New Orchestra, Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet and the NU – ensemble.1800 concerts and over 200 recordproductions in Europe, Australia, Africa, North & South America and Asia.

Collaborations with contemporary dance, theater, art as well as projects with noise, electronica, contemporary rock and free jazz.
Producer of international festivals and concert tours as well as work with own record labels Slottet, OlofBright Editions and Blue Tower Records.

Born 1964 in Umeå, Northern Sweden.

Flute studies, keyboard mistreatments and activities in jazz-rock and punk units in Umeå in early 80`s. Started playing improvised music with drummer Kjell Nordeson in 1982, with whom he started AALY Trio in 1986. Performances/ happenings with visual artist Edward G. Jarvis from 1984-. Moved to Stockholm in 1985. Early collaborations with Dror Feiler, Jörgen Adolfsson, Christian Munthe and Sten Sandell & Raymond Strid with whom he started GUSH in 1988

Started collaborate with German drummer Paul Lovens in 1990 and has since then worked extensively as duo, trio, quartet and large ensemble (NU-ensemblen).

First trip to the US in 1988. First meetings with Ken Vandermark, Hamid Drake, David Grubbs, Michael Zerang, Fred Lonberg Holm… in Chicago 1994. Member of the Peter Brötzmann Tentet since 1997.
Diskaholics Anonymous Trio w. Thurston Moore and Jim O’Rourke started in 2000 …
Member of Barry Guy New Orchestra since its start in 2000.

Formed The Thing with Norwegians Paal Nilssen-Love and Ingebrigt Håker Flaten in 2000

Received the Swedish Royal Academy of Music Large Prize of Jazz in 2004,

Voted best jazz artist of the year in Sweden  2000 and 2008.

Recieved Expressen´s Spelmannen Prize in 2004.

Guest of Honor at the Umeå Jazz  festival in 2008.

Autumn is nearing and with it the Krakow Jazz Autumn, a festival that in its 7 years of existence has established itself one of the most important festival scenes not only in Europe but around the world. Some of the most versatile and dynamic musicians of the improvised music scene today have starred at the festival, with Peter Brötzmann, Anthony Braxton, Barry Guy and Ken Vandermark taking the lead, giving both concerts and also as artists-in-residence.
